Salalah is the largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, and its the birthplace of the Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Beyond the unique atmosphere the khareef provides, there is much more to see and experience. As well as its lush green pastures, Salalah is renowned for its stunning collection of beaches, which feel almost Caribbean with their coconut trees and relaxed vibe. Try Al Mughsail Beach, a quiet and wild-feeling stretch of sand, full of caves and blowholes.

Inland from Aqaba and its world-renowned diving, lies the astonishing and ancient hidden city of Petra. Looming like a mirage that melts into the copper sandstone hills of the desert, it is a rare and magnificent delight. Aqaba is Jordan’s only coastal city, its location between Asia and Africa providing a vital trading hub for thousands of years. Today the city has a unique feel – with bustling souks and burnt orange mountains more typical of inland Jordan, alongside all the charm of a seaside town. With neighbours that include the Mars-like landscapes of Wadi Rum and the UNESCO City of Petra, Aqaba completes the ‘golden triangle’ of tourism in Jordan. Restaurants are lively with fresh fish and beautiful coastal views while shopping in the Old Town’s souks provides ample opportunity to flex your bartering skills.

Following the 120-mile route between the Mediterranean and Red Sea, you’ll mostly observe low-lying desert on each side. Keep an eye out for El Ferdan Railway Bridge, the world’s largest swing bridge.

Day 14: Naples, Italy (16th Apr 2023)

Napoli, as it’s known to Italians, has a little bit of everything ancient churches and universities, stunning parks, and wonderful restaurants. The Duomo is perhaps one of the most beautiful ancient cathedrals in the world. Take time to explore the Palazzo Reale, a palace built at the turn of the 12th century. Or visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale to see one of the most comprehensive collections of Greco-Roman artefacts anywhere, including an abundance of mosaics from the buried city of Pompei.

Sail into the beautiful Bay of Naples with its spectacular views of Capri and Ischia islands, and explore the wide choice of beautiful buildings, stunning parks and truly appetizing Italian eateries.A visit to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale is an excellent way to spend time here. Among many unique and interesting items, you’ll get to see mosaics rescued from the buried city of Pompeii.

Day 18: Lisbon, Portugal (20th Apr 2023)

Portugal’s capital spreads its ancient sites on seven hills overlooking the Tagus River. Atop the highest hill, St. George’s Castle overlooks the city. Balconies ablaze with geraniums and wrought iron lamps light up the medieval Alfama quarter. Sorrowful fados ring out from cafes in the Alto. Shoppers browse in the affluent Chiado district. A short drive away, deposed royalty once lived out their days in the opulent palaces of Estoril and Sintra.
